In Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (called the Ninja Cloak in North America and Thief's Mantle in Japan), it is the second most effective cape in the game, giving DEF +15 and LCK +5, which is better than the +12 DEF offered by the Crimson Cloak, but outclassed by the Twilight Cloak which gives 3 more DEF and LCK.
In Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, the Assassin Cape, in addition to the standard Defense boost, also gives an STR boost (+5 DEF, +3 STR). This is in contrast to the Blue Cape, Holy Mantle, and Paludamentum, which all give an INT boost, and the Elven Cape which gives a MND boost.
In Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, the Assassin Cape is the only cape in the base game that offers a STR boost (+1), as well as defense against Blunt attacks (+5). It gives a rather average and even +4 to HP, MP and DEF.
