A Ball of Destruction (also called Flames with the Ignis Glyph and Retro Fireball) is a Fireball that is launched with limited range. Three such fireballs are usually launched at the same time in a forward facing spread. However, only one or two will be thrown for an incomplete version of the spell. This is a limited range variant of Dracula's Hellfire attack from the original Castlevania.
Game specific information[]
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse[]
Alucard uses a Ball of Destruction as his main attack instead of the full-powered Hellfire that he used during his boss fight when used as a playable character. He starts with the ability to only throw one. When he finds a Morning Star power up, he also throws an diagonally upwards ball. Finding a third allows him to also throw diagonally downwards. He is unable to use this attack while on stairs.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia[]
The Ignis Glyph gives Shanoa the ability to use the Flames spell in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, which blasts three fireballs in a forward facing spread. This glyph can perform Ignis Glyph Unions.
In Hard Mode, Albus can use this attack during his fight along with other attacks using glyphs.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair[]
Shanoa starts the game with the Ignis glyph in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, which plays the same as it did in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Another copy of this glyph can be absorbed from Aliorumnas when she casts it. It consumes 15 MP per use and can be upgraded to level 9 by continuous usage. Its range gets longer as it levels up.
The Retro Fireball also launches three 8-bit Fireballs in a similar manner. These represents flames spat out by an ancient creature. The spell can be obtained by Charlotte Aulin by blocking a fireball from the 8-bit Retro versions of the Fish Man, Dragon Cannon, Skele-Dragon, or Phantom Bat. Soma Cruz can perform the attack by absorbing a Retro Fish Man's soul. When he performs the attack, the image of an 8-bit Merman appears at the starting point of the fireball spread as if it had fired the attack, but the Fish Man itself does not interact with the environment.
