The Black Belt is a martial arts belt that may improve several statistics, but has an emphasis on offensive stats. This is in contrast to the Ancient Belt or the Power Belt, which instead emphasis defensive stats.
In Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, it gives +5 ATK and STR and +3 DEF and +2 CON. It is greater for every statistic than the Red Scarf, which has +2 Defense and +1 for the rest of the same statistics. It is somewhat weaker overall than its defensive counterpart, the Ancient Belt, which gives +7 DEF, +5 CON, +1 ATK, +1 STR, in addition to +1 LCK.

- The fact that the Black Belt is generally dropped by Werewolves may stem from the legend that wearing a belt made of wolfskin is one of the alleged methods to become one of these beasts. A popular case is that of Peter Stumpp, a 16th century German serial killer who was known as 'the Werewolf of Bedburg'. He claimed that the Devil gave him a magical belt which enabled him to metamorphose into a werewolf. Removing the belt, he said, made him transform back to his human form.
