A flying evil sword with an odd-looking design and a bloodstained blade. They appear in great numbers in the Chapel Tower and in a room of the Battle Arena, along with Poison Armors. Their attack pattern consists in levitating around for a few seconds and then launching themselves at great speed into the player's direction. At the end of their lunge they will perform a wide circling slash, covering a relative big area which is usually near their prey if they missed the attack. The ones in the Battle Arena inflict Poison status on touch. They commonly drop Arm Guards and rarely the Mars card.
Do not attempt to spin your whip to destroy Bloody Swords unless you are at a very high level. Instead, use multiple whip swings to bring them down. Alternatively, Axes and Crucifixes work very well against them, as they deal good damage and move swiftly.
The main hitbox of a Bloody Sword lies on its hilt, so it's better to concentrate all your attacks to that part of the sword and not the blade. The moment when they briefly stop moving after hovering for a while means that they have tracked your position and will lunge into that spot. This gives you enough time to move away from that zone and find a better place for fighting back. Learn their attack patterns and lure them into lunging to a place where you will be able to counterattack easily.
Also, you may want to use a DSS combination which allows you to use a sword, like the Mars + Mandragora cards, which allow you to use a large Rose Sword. The large overhead area covered with each swing of the sword, added to the extra damage granted by the actual combination (STR +12%), can prove to be very useful when dealing with these enemies; otherwise, any other type of sword can be used instead.
