The Blunt Sword, also called Namakura, is a poorly made Japanese sword with a dull cutting edge.
In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the Namakura is the first in a line of fast Katana's, however, and is much faster than the Red Rust or Takemitsu. While the swinging motion is quicker, it still takes just as long to swing twice. It also deals out more negative attack power than the Red Rust and like that sword, can deal Curse damage. It does not jam up though. The next cursed sword in the series is the Muramasa, which starts out with low statistics like these swords, but can evolve into something much more powerful.
In Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, the Blunt Sword is the first Katana that can be obtained. By adding souls to it, it can evolve into stronger and stronger swords until it completes its evolution as the bloodthirsty Muramasa.
Despite the name, this weapon does not deal Strike damage in any game.
