- "Edouard: But the world is dark and cruel and filled with monsters. And that was too much to bear. You thought so too, Captain. It's why you joined the Revolutionary Army.
Captain: Yes. To purge the world of monsters... But here we are." - — The Captain to Edouard in "The Widow's Window"
The Captain of the National Guard is a character in the Netflix original animated series, Castlevania: Nocturne.
History[]
After she and her entire squadron of the National Guard are slaughtered by Drolta Tzuentes shortly after the latter's resurrection, their bodies are brought to Abbot Emmanuel and placed inside his Forgemaster machine, after which she is also resurrected as a Night Creature. Like Edouard, she retains much of her humanity and memories, but finds herself solemn after accepting her new form. After Emmanuel's death at the hands of Maria, she and Edouard secretly inspire many of Erzsebet and Drolta's other Night Creatures, including Jacques and her former revolutionary soldiers, to rebel against their vampire masters, and even rallies the charge against the loyal Night Creatures during their invasion of Paris. She is last seen having survived the battle and overlooks a liberated Paris with a smile.
Appearance[]
As a human, she was a woman with dark brown hair and brown eyes, and wore a National Guard Uniform consisting of a blue coat with gold epaulettes, along with red cuffs and collar, covering a white waistcoat. She also wore white breeches and black boots, along with white cross straps around her chest and a black bicorn hat with a white trim.
Post-resurrection, she resembles a Frozen Shade with a partially translucent, crystalline body and most of her original facial features intact. Her one unique feature is the cross straps of her original National Guard uniform, which form an X-shape to cover most of her chest. She often holds her arms crossed with open palms while she is not attacking.
Powers and abilities[]
As a human, she is skilled in armed combat, particularly with a sabre. Since her resurrection as a Night Creature, she can now fly and project sharp ice crystals to target her enemies with a ranged attack. In both forms, she has been shown to be a competent leader.
