The Cave, also known as the Reverse Mine, is a location in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It is an upside-down version of the Abandoned Pit to the Catacomb. A slight blue color has been added to everything in the pit. It can be reached from the Reverse Caverns below and traveling further upward leads to the Floating Catacombs.
Overview[]
Much of the layout is the same as the normal variant, minus crumbling stairways. The entire area is filled with weak enemies Alucard has previously faced in the past. The first portion of the location houses two familiar bosses, now as common enemies. At the climb to the "top" of the cave, a squadron of Bats hang above the ruined stairs. The rooms above the bat stairwell contain Thornweed. Like the normal cave, the reverse cave also contains a secret passageway blocked by a large stone. The stone can be moved out of the way by a nearby switch embedded inside a wall. The switch can be activated using a Devil Familiar.
Reaching the reverse cave is no easy task, as Alucard is required to fight through swarm after swarm of some of the toughest enemies available within previous sections of the Reverse Castle in order to reach one of the highest points of the Reverse Castle. It is within this cave that, after a long and grueling survival effort through the many perils endured, Alucard finally catches up to Death.
