The Denis Marsh is a location in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It is a long poison marsh that comes after the East Bridge that leads to nowhere and offers nothing.
Overview[]
The Denis Marsh appears to lead to Berkeley Mansion from the East Bridge on the map; however, it is not possible to get to there from here, and if the player makes it all the way to the end, they are forced to turn back. Fortunately, on the way to the dead end, the player can take an upper path above the marsh. The way back can consume a few Laurels if the player doesn't know about the invisible stairs that lead back up to the upper path.
Although not shown on the map, the Denis Marsh may actually penetrate the areas surrounding Berkeley Mansion, including the Denis Woods, the Veros Woods, and Dabi's Path, each which contain localized marsh pits.

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse[]
The swamp in Dracula's Curse Block 4 may have been inspired by the Denis Marsh, along with other nearby swampy forest areas such as the Denis Woods and Veros Woods.
Super Castlevania IV[]
- Main article: Super Castlevania IV Stage 5
The path taken in Super Castlevania IV to Dracula's Castle generally aligns with the optimal path that can be taken in Simon's Quest to the castle. The Denis Marsh corresponds with the marshlands of the fifth stage.
