The Dungeon is a location in Castlevania: Dracula X.


After fighting his way through a richly decorated great hall, Richter somehow starts this level right off in the middle of a dungeon located somewhere in a large complex of caverns beneath the castle. Old cells with long-forgotten prisoners can be seen in the background as he attempts to find a way out of this place.

Skeletons, Bats, and Bone Pillars are the main enemies encountered in this stage. Some sections are filled with traps, like spiked pits and falling spiked platforms.

One section is a reimagined version of the tall vertical waterworks room that preceded the alternate boss fight in the first stage of Rondo of Blood. If Richter brought the Key he found in the Great Hall all the way to this room, he will be able to unlock the door to the cell where Maria is being held. The Key won't be lost upon usage, however, so he can opt to keep it in his quest of finding Annet.

Richter will eventually reach the room that leads to the boss fight. If he was able to bring the Key all the way here, he can then unlock the door that gives access to Stage 5', where Annet is kept prisoner.

If, on the other hand, he proceeds directly to the boss room, he will be confronted by Minotaurusu, an imposing were-bull who wields a greataxe.

  • Maria can be found in this stage. A Key is required in order to open her cell (obtained in the previous stage).
  • If Richter was knocked off to the pit in the Great Hall, he will end up in the Caves (Stage 4'), an alternate section of this stage. Both areas separate from each other and there is no way of reaching the same rooms even if they are technically part of the same stage.
