Energy Shot (気弾[1] Kidan?) is one of Maria's main attacks in the Sega Saturn version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is an energy ball which can be charged for up to four levels. It can be launched by simply pressing the Fire button. Holding this button before releasing it increases its attack power depending on how long it is held. At level 1, it can also be angled diagonally downward in mid-air. After a second of fully charging it, an energy shield appears in front of Maria, which blocks projectiles and disappears 5 seconds after firing a level 4 shot or taking damage.

Trivia[]
- The Crushing Stone upgrade in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance works similarly to the Energy Shot, as the playable characters' sprites glow while charging the attack, and the character can perform any other actions that do not involve the use or release of the attack button, such as moving, jumping, jump kicking, dashing, back dashing, crouching and sliding.
- Both instances resemble how the Charge Shot of the Mega Buster and X-Buster from the Mega Man franchise work. The Energy Shot in particular has the HUD glow similarly to earlier Mega Man games, and a fourth charge level that performs noticeably different from previous ones, much like most buster upgrades on later games.
