According to the Bloodlines Electronic gaming Monthly fax, the Ericson Clan (or Ericcson Family) was one of several prolific clans of vampire hunters with blood ties to the Belmont Clan. The family has Nordic roots and gained Belmont blood when Leif Ericson married Amanda Belmont, the daughter of Christopher Belmont, in the 16th century. Their line continued down to the early 20th century with Bolt Ericson, who wielded a hammer. Bolt would join with John Morris, Eric Lecarde and Yoko Felnades in 1917 across Europe in an effort to stop Elizabeth Bartley's ambitions of bringing back Dracula.
The Ericson Clan does not appear in any canon references. Bolt was originally planned to be a playable character in Castlevania: Bloodlines, but was removed from the game during development.

Trivia[]
- It is possible that Bolt's hammer is a family weapon entrusted to the Ericson Clan, similar to the Vampire Killer for the Morris Clan, the Alucard Spear for the Lecarde Clan, and Excalibur for the Belmont Clan, as detailed in the Electronic Gaming Monthly fax. This hammer might have been Mjollnjr.
- The family may be related to the historical Leif Erikson, the 10th century Norse explorer, as Bolt's ancestor, Leif, shares a name with this figure .
- The family may have left Scandinavia for other parts of Europe by the time they had encountered the Belmont Clan and adopted the surname of Ericson, as in Scandinavia, Ericson simply means "son of Eric".
- The family name is spelled "Ericcson" in the EGM fax, but the The History of Castlevania e-book spells Bolt's last name as "Ericson".
