- For the Axe, see Type B Axe.
The Executioner is an enemy in the Castlevania series. He is a massive humanoid creature who likes to smash and slash people with heavy weapons. He first appeared as a hidden boss in Castlevania Legends.
Appearances[]
Castlevania Legends[]
He seems slow at first, but that's just a ruse to set the player up for his mad dashes and long jump attacks. Using his axe, he'll march toward the player to do his dungeon-inhabiting job. It's not so much that he's hard to defeat, it's that the construction of his chamber makes it hard to maneuver around. The Executioner often plants himself on a platform right above the player, swinging his axe wildly, leaving no way to escape. The player should try not to get cornered and they might have a fighting chance, as one single hit from his axe causes a whopping 5 damage.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence[]
His appearance is similar to that of the previous game, except he wears a hood that completely masks his head and wields a huge club instead of an axe.
Despite his very low speed of movement, he is able to go as fast as the player by throwing him on for a short moment or to send him big stones that he will pull out of the ground. However, if the player is close enough to him, he can propel him away with a nudge and inflict him the curse effect by attacking him with his club.

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness[]
An Executioner first appears at the start of the game when the player enters the Abandoned Castle for the first time. His weapon has changed into a spiked mace and chain attached to his wrist. However, perhaps his most prominent feature is that he now has two heads. In fact, the second head is actually a complete section of a torso of another creature to which the arm with the spiked mace belongs to, and which was apparently stitched together to the Executioner's main body.
He'll attack by either swinging his arm in a full circle, spinning around to knock the player backward, or by slamming his maced hand into the ground. The damage he does depends on the difficulty of the game. For instance, in Crazy Mode, he only needs less than three or four, maybe even two, hits to wipe the player out. Later on, other Executioners will drop an Hamburger.
A stronger version of this enemy, the Iron Gladiator, appears later in the game.
