Ghost Dancers are enemies in the Castlevania series. They are the spirits of nobles that dance endlessly with great elegance in aristocratic abandon.
Description[]
Dead nobles that eternally dance together. Ghost Dancers first appeared in Super Castlevania IV, in the later sections of Stage VI, spinning around each other through walls and ceilings. These were essentially a paired version of the Dead Nobleman and Noblewoman.
Boss versions, known as The Dancing Spectres, act as the bosses of that level, which waltz throughout the room, making stops to hurl three rapiers at the player. They can also draw out their own rapiers and charge through the air. In the North American version, they are individually known as Paula Abghoul and Fred Askare.
Ghost Dancers reappeared in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, where they move up and down across long horizontal distances and then switch directions. In Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and later games, they stop when they get to the end of their movement range and split apart for a moment. Killing one of the ghosts causes both of them to disappear. They are weak to Holy and resistant to striking, slashing and freezing attacks.
It's worth spending some time to farm these enemies as their soul grants the LUCK Boost ability in both games, being the earliest source of this ability in Aria of Sorrow, granting +4 LCK, and giving +2 LCK in Dawn of Sorrow for each soul acquired, for up to a total of LCK +18 for 9 souls collected. This is particularly relevant due to how LCK plays a particular prominence in these two games, as it makes it easier the acquisition of other souls and/or items, some of which are required to obtain the good ending in both games.

Trivia[]
- In Super Castlevania IV, the individual English localized names of The Dancing Spectres are "Paula Abghoul" and "Fred Askare". Their names are a reference to pop singer and dancer Paula Abdul and legendary dancer Fred Astaire.
- The concept of dancing ghosts was probably inspired by the dancing ghost couples from the ballroom section of Disney's Haunted Mansion, in particular those appearing in Aria of Sorrow and onward, with their era clothing and twirling movements resembling those seen in the attraction.
