Spinning Edge is an alternate form of the Axe sub-weapon, which comes in many forms. The name is used for an Axe attack that contrasts with the regular attack made by the Axe sub-weapon in that same game. The name only applies to single throwing axe attacks, as opposed to the multiple axes or a single giant axe swing that might be released in various Item Crash attacks.
The name first appeared in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, where it applies to the horizontally thrown boomerang-like Bullet Soul attack that Soma Cruz can wield after capturing an Axe Armor's. This contrasts with the traditional Axe sub-weapon wielded by Julius Belmont in that game.
The name is also applied to the Axe that Soma can use from an Axe Armor's soul in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. It starts out identical to the Axe sub-weapon that Julius uses in that game, but it can be evolved into a more powerful and larger double edged axe.
In Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, the Spinning Edge attack is the result of combining Leon's Axe sub-weapon with a Blue Orb. It is a large single axe thrown forward in that game, while the normal sub-weapon attack consists of dual smaller axes thrown parallel together.
In Castlevania Judgment, the Spinning Edge is the name of the Axe sub-weapon's Charge attack. It is larger and faster than the regular Axe attack, is double edged, and can break through an opponent's guard.

Trivia[]
- While not actually named Spinning Edge, the alternate attack of Juste Belmont's Axe subweapon in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance when used with a Heaven's Ring meets the criteria to be called a Spinning Edge. This weapon is larger and slower than the normal Axe attack in that game.
- Individual names for Soul abilities are not given in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, but it is likely that Soma’s Axe throws he gains from the Axe Knight and R. Axe-Man could also be considered Spinning Edge attacks. The Axe Knight bullet soul is identical to the Axe sub-weapon that can also be found in the game. The R. Axe-Man bullet is an 8-bit Axe attack. Multiple axes can be thrown if it is leveled up with more souls.
