Leon Belmont (レオン・ベルモンド, Reon Berumondo^?, Leon Belmondo) is a mentioned character in the Castlevania animated series. He was the founder of the Belmont Clan and the first person known to have fought the evil Vampire Lord Dracula.

History

Leon Belmont was a knight and founder of the Belmont Clan. He was a master vampire hunter and the earliest named member of the clan. He was the first to use the Morning Star whip and was responsible for starting the clan's vampire hunting tradition. He appears in a portrait at the entrance of the basement of the Belmont Hold in the third episode of the second season. The same portrait also appears in the seventh episode of the second season as Trevor and his allies are on their way to Dracula's castle.

He was the first of the Belmonts to come to Wallachia in order to fight Dracula. It is said that Leon rode into Wallachia with a Celt named Trefor, whom Trevor Belmont is named after.

When Trevor explores the Belmont Hold, he encounters his longsword. He uses it against Dracula and successfully beheads him after Alucard had pierced his heart with a wooden stake.

Trivia

• In the TV Series Leon fought Dracula which is something he never did in the series canon since Dracula's original and first name was Mathias Cronqvist and they were friends and conrades in arms during the Crusades its possible that Leon faced Mathias sometime later after 1094 possibly in the 1100s after killing Walter Bernhard.
  
• The outfit worn by Leon in his portrait is nearly identical to the knight's garb his original timeline counterpart wore prior to the events of Castlevania: Lament of Innocence.
• The background and Leon's pose taken on the painting resembles those of the Portrait of Louis XIV, although in reverse.
