Not to be confused with Flame Whip.

The Fireball Whip is a whip which is able to launch fireballs.

In Game Boy related games, it is created the second time the whip is powered up with a Crystal.

It is activated in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon by combining the Diana + Salamander DSS cards.

It is activated in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance by equipping a Bullet Tip and having full HP.

Game specific information[]

Castlevania: The Adventure[]

The Fireball Whip is the second upgraded whip in The Adventure. After two Crystal power-ups are collected, Christopher's whip will launch fireballs out at full extension, with the damage equivalent of the regular leather whip (the whip itself still has the damage output of the second level chain whip upgrade), but giving Christopher an edge in attacking enemies from afar. Any subsequent damage to Christopher will turn the fireball whip into the chain whip.

Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge[]

The Fireball Whip is the second upgraded whip in Belmont's Revenge. After two Crystal power-ups are collected, Christopher's whip will again launch fireballs out at full extension, with the damage equivalent of the regular leather whip (the whip itself still has the damage output of the second level chain whip upgrade), but giving Christopher an edge in attacking enemies from afar. He will retain this powered-up whip unless he is hit by a Punaguchi's orb.

Castlevania Legends[]

The Power Two Whip is able to launch fireballs in Legends as in previous Game Boy games. It cannot be downgraded by taking a hit. Sonia starts the whip at Level Two in Light Mode.

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon[]

In Circle of the Moon, the ability to shoot fireballs from one's whip is achieved via DSS by combining the Diana and Salamander cards. When DSS is active, the protagonist, Nathan Graves, becomes able to shoot fireballs, consuming 32 MP per whip strike. As it is a bit costly, it's advised to be used with moderation. Fireballs have a 400 base damage power and are not affected by any of Nathan's stats.

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance[]

Unlike previous titles, the ability to launch fireballs from the tip of the whip in this game is bestowed by equipping the Bullet Tip, an upgrade item designed for this effect.

The original Japanese name of this enhancement is "Christopher's Soul" (クリストファーの魂 Kurisutofā no Tamashī?) and it directly alludes to Christopher Belmont, the protagonist of Castlevania: The Adventure and Belmont's Revenge, and who was the first character in the series who had the ability to shoot fireballs from his whip. Additionally, like in those games, the protagonist of Harmony of Dissonance, Juste Belmont, can only shoot fireballs if he has full HP.

Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth[]

Collecting a second Crystal power-up will allow the whip to launch fireballs at full extension. Unlike the Game Boy games, this is only a temporary upgrade. A yellow power meter below Christopher's life meter will steadily drain over time until it is empty, after which the effect vanishes. In Classic Mode, the Fireball Whip will also vanish immediately if Christopher is damaged.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair[]

The downloadable 8-bit version of Simon Belmont from the original Castlevania is able to perform a sub-attack with the Vampire Killer that no one else can perform. By inputting ↓, ↘, → (facing right), he launches a short-range fireball as he strikes with the whip.
