Flying Fishes are fishes that can jump out of water, or in some cases, out of a magic circle. They generally make an arc over the water or through the air, and there are usually an unlimited supply of them.

Appearances

Konami Wai Wai World

The first flying fish was a piranha-like enemy in the parody mascot game Konami Wai Wai World.

Castlevania (N64) / Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness

In Castlevania and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness, Death and Renon could summon demonic fishes as an attack, which gained entry into this realm via a magical circle.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

The next appearance was a Water Leaper, which only appeared in the Sega Saturn version of Symphony of the Night.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow

A cryptid enemy, known as the Sky Fish, appears in a room of the Underground Reservoir in Aria of Sorrow. It moves at an absurd speed and the only way to defeat it is by gaining dominance over the Chronomage's soul, Time Stop, and use it to slow down time and thus be able to attack the creature.

Castlevania: Curse of Darkness

The boss of Mortvia Aqueduct, the Skeleton Diver, rides a giant fish which can leap high above the water or take its master deep underwater to perform surprise attacks. This fish also has the ability of shooting a powerful laser beam from its mouth.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

Order of Ecclesia's Sea Stinger is depicted physically similar to a swordfish. This enemy glides along under the water's surface and then occasionally jumps out of the water in an arc.

Castlevania Judgment

A Giant Fish is a stage hazard of the Castle Gate in Judgment. It frequently jumps high and lands to the left side, bringing down part of the bridge with it. If a character stands at the left edge of the bridge and is caught by the hazard, it will either be sent out flying to the opposite side or be swallowed by the fish leading to an instant death or "RING OUT".
