The Fuzz Buster is an enemy in the Castlevania series.
Origins[]
Keseran pasaran are legendary creatures from Japanese folklore which have their origins after the Edo period. Their appearance is that of a fluffy, white fur ball similar to a dandelion's fluff or a rabbit's tail.
It is said that if a person encounters one, they can be kept in a box and it will bring them good luck and happiness.
Their nature is not clear, however, and the theories of their origin have been speculated to be either animal, botanical, or even mineral.
Description[]
Fuzz Busters are mysterious, fluffy ball-like creatures. They are generally indestructible or almost indestructible balls that travel at a fast pace around the surface of a platform. They often take the form of a plant pod or a fireball.
Fuzz Busters can only be slowed down by being attacked with a normal weapon, or be temporarily stopped with the Stopwatch sub-weapon. They can also be frozen and then destroyed by casting Sypha's Frozen Crystals spell.
They first appeared in Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse in plant form and reappeared as such in Super Castlevania IV. They were shown to be made of fire in the parody game Kid Dracula and in the secret Castlevania-themed stage "Hell" from Ganbare Goemon 2.
Similar monsters[]
Other monsters in the Castlevania series move in a manner similar to Fuzz Busters, but are usually destructible.
The Slime from Symphony of the Night and later games can also move in a similar manner but can unstick from the walls and ceilings they are moving upon, change direction, perform lunges and attacks against the player, although they don't move around in such a determined and unwavering manner. The Spittle Bone also moves around platforms in circles and drops poison or spews flames.
The octopus-like electrical Abiondarg in Circle of the Moon also moves around platforms in large numbers in an identical manner.
