Getsu Fuma (月風魔 (げつ ふうま)?) (also spelled Getsu Fuuma or Getsu Fuhma; written in Western Order as "Fūma Getsu") is the protagonist of the 1987 Famicom game Getsu Fūma Den.
On February 2, 2011, he was included as a downloadable playable character in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
In 2021, 34 years after the first game in the GetsuFumaDen series, he reappears as "The Founder" in GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon.
Abilities
Fuma has three default sub-weapons in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair:
- War Drum: Fires sonic waves at enemies.
- Throwing Star: Throws three shuriken out. The number of shurikens increases as the skill is leveled up.
- Hexplosives: Throws magic explosive which go along the ground. The number of fireballs after contacting an enemy increases as the skill is leveled up.
Item Data
Several items used by Getsu Fuma can be found in this game. Only Fuma is able to use his weapons, which are available to him at the beginning of the game. He must find his signature defensive gear, which whip-wielders can also equip.

Cameos
Although for many years there were no sequels made to Getsu Fūma Den, Fuma has made cameo appearances in several other Konami products:
- He appeared in the 1988 Famicom game Konami Wai Wai World and its sequel Wai Wai World 2: SOS!! Parsley Castle alongside Simon Belmont.
- He also appeared as a card in Yu-Gi-Oh! as "Getsu Fuhma", as did Ryukotsuki, the final boss of Getsu Fūma Den, as "Ryu Kokki".
- Fuma appeared as the wrestler "The G Getsu Fūma" (The G・月風魔?) in the 1996 Super Famicom wrestling game Jikkyō Power Pro Wrestling '96: Max Voltage. The game also featured Richter Belmont as a wrestler.
- He also appeared along with the song "Go! Getsu Fuma" under the genre GETSUFUMA-DEN in the 2010 arcade music game pop'n music 18: Sengoku Retsuden.
- Fuma is the first character from a non-Castlevania game to appear in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair.
- A female inspired character, Gesshi Hanafuuma (月士 華風魔 (げっし はなふうま) Hanafūma Gesshi?), appeared in the 2011 side-shooter Xbox 360 game Otomedius Excellent. It also featured Kokoro Belmont, a Belmont-inspired character.
Trivia
- His name 月風魔 (げつ ふうま) Getsu Fūma means 月 (moon), 風 (wind) and 魔 (demon/devil/evil/magic).
- In Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, a glitch was confirmed that putting Down-B subskills can be spammed (useful for training them on Survival Mode). Hold Down while pressing LB and B at the same time at a fast speed to spam.
- Fuma's double jump in Harmony of Despair is called Mashō no Koma (魔性のコマ? lit. "Demonic Spin Top") from Getsu Fūma Den.
- Unlike the other playable characters, Fuma is based on a real-life historical figure known as Fūma Kotarō, a ninja-turned brigand who served the Hōjō clan of samurai during the Japanese Warring States period.
- While not playable in the sequel, his successor of same name does appear as a playable character, while the original Getsu Fuuma is referenced to and appears as a statue in the Ancient Battlegrounds.
