Gram is a one-handed sword in the Castlevania series. It appears in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, and Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls. It is typically a fairly powerful but otherwise unremarkable late-game sword, having no special abilities or elemental powers. It gains the fire element in Grimoire of Souls.
Origins[]
In Norse lore, Gramr was the name of the sword that Sigurðr (Siegfried) used to kill the dragon Fáfnir. It was forged by Vǫlundr the Smith and originally belonged to his father, Sigmundr, who received it in the hall of the Vǫlsungr after pulling it out of a log into which Óðinn had stuck it; nobody else could pull it out. The sword was destroyed and reforged at least once. After it was reforged, it clove an anvil in half.
Depending on the source, this sword is otherwise known as Balmung.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[]
Gram is the second-strongest of the basic short swords, having an ATK bonus of 30, and is only exceeded in the family of no-ability swords by Dark Blade which has +35 ATK and +2 DEF. It is slightly stronger than Harper and has no special abilities. It can be found in a room on the highest floor of the Reverse Colosseum inbetween the two save rooms (somewhat closer to the left save room).
Like all such swords, it is a completely unremarkable weapon, and is exceeded in every way by the high-level swords like Mourneblade, Crissaegrim, Terminus Est, Mablung Sword and the Alucard Sword, which can be acquired with relative ease at that point in the game.
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow[]
This is a standard horizontal slashing sword. It is the strongest and most expensive sword that can be purchased at Hammer's shop, with the exception of Ascalon, which costs three times as much. It takes Hammer a while to find this sword and is only available after defeating the Headhunter. It is only available at Hammer's shop.
It is slightly stronger and otherwise identical to the Mystletain. As in Symphony of the Night, it is the most powerful horizontal slashing sword that only has ATK bonuses. It is exceeded by the Burtgang, which is a little bit smaller, but a good degree stronger and also gives a small DEF and CON boost.
