- Not to be confused with Grave Digger or Gravedigger.
The Grave Keeper is a recurring enemy in the Castlevania series. He is a master of unarmed combat.
Description[]
The Grave Keeper, as his name implies, can usually be found near graveyard areas. When approached, he will stand up and challenge the player. He generally attacks with long and fast side kicks, or by jumping and performing a downward kick.
Upon defeat, he dies in a shower of blood. Alucard can regain some health at this moment if Dark Metamorphosis (or any of its variants) is active.
Appearances[]
Castlevania: Rondo of Blood[]
First appearance of the Grave Keeper. He appears in the Caves (Stage 3') and, as his name implies, he can be found guarding the graveyard. Two are encountered near the room where Tera is held hostage (bridge with the dragon skeleton). If Tera's room is revisited on subsequent playthroughs of the stage after she was rescued, five Candles will appear inside the room. One of these Candles hides a Grave Keeper, making this one of the rare instances an enemy is inside a Candle instead of an item.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[]
A lone Grave Keeper can be found inside the fountain room in the Colosseum, guarding a Green Tea (Sake in the Japanese version). If Dark Metamorphosis is active, Alucard can regain some health by drawing blood from him.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow[]
While the Grave Keeper does not appear in this game, his soul does. It can be obtained very early in the game, inside a soul-keeper located in the middle of the lower path of the Mermen room in the Castle Corridor. Acquiring this soul grants Soma the ability to perform back dashes.
