- For the general environment, see Great Stairways.
The Great Stairway is a location in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
Overview[]
The largest portion of Dracula's Castle, in which the paintings to the Sandy Grave and Nation of Fools can be found.
The middle section of the Great Stairway, which is first entered from the Buried Chamber, is detailed with white marble walls and many arcs held by pillars. There are long hallways filled with Persephones vacuuming the floor... and the player. In between those hallways are stairs covered by Hill Guards and Skelerangs. It is this section where the boss Keremet is fought.
The eastern side, on the other hand, is dusty and covered by soil. The player unlocks the Double Jump in the beginning of that area.
Using the Double Jump, the player can reach the western section. It is considered part of the Great Stairway despite using the Entrance's tileset and background. Liliths and Bowgun Armors are first encountered here. It is also where the portrait to the Nation of Fools resides.
