Guardians are a type of monster that protects the protagonist. They are similar to Familiars, but instead of moving on their own, they are usually found at a fixed location relative to the protagonist. They may appearing to be attached to them and move when the protagonist moves. These allies first appeared in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and are usually invoked using a Guardian Soul, but are considered Familiars in other games. The Corpseweed Familiar in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is an example of a Guardian-like familiar.
