Not to be confused with Guillotiner or Flying Guillotine.

The Guillotine is an aerial whip combo finisher in the Lords of Shadow games. It can be used to finish any aerial attack sequence by holding the Direct Attack button while in the air. The player rolls once while descending and smashes the whip down hard on the ground in front of him, throwing ground based enemies off balance. If the Guillotine has been extended (with the Guillotine Upgrade in Lords of Shadow or the Guillotine Final in Mirror of Fate), continuing to hold the Direct Attack button after striking the ground will cause another attack which rips up the earth as the whip swings back over the players head. The Chaos Claws equivalent is the Smashing Punch. The Void Sword and Crissaegrim equivalent is the Smashing Stab.

In Lords of Shadow, an Upward Guillotine is available after the Seraph Shoulders are found. This launches the enemy high into the air instead of smashing them into the ground by performing a direct attack followed by a double jump. This has a greater effect than the Rising Strike, which only uses a single jump.
