Holy Lightning is a lightning spell that relatives of the Belnades Clan can perform. It involves the creation of one or more Lightning Orbs which then are sent out and home in on an enemy.

The earliest version of this spell, the Lightning Bolt, is Sypha Belnades's spell in Dracula's Curse (referred to as Goodness Gracious Great Bolts of Lightning in the North American instruction booklet). Three large and powerful lightning orbs are created, which then home in on an enemy. They can't be used again until the three of them leave the screen. The Fake Sypha boss in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin is also able to use this attack.

Sypha's relative, Yoko Belnades, is able to perform a similar triple homing lightning orb attack in Dawn of Sorrow and Harmony of Despair.

"Goodness Gracious Great Bolts of Lightning", the name given to the Lightning Bolt in the American instruction booklet of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, is a pun to the lyrics of the 1957 song "Great Balls of Fire" by Jerry Lee Lewis.
Malphas can perform a similar attack to Holy Lightning. At some point during his boss battle, he will hover in the air and slowly build up energy; after enough has been gathered, he will release four large electrical spheres which travel in an arcing pattern and with slight homing capabilities.
