A Homing Knife Throw (unofficial name) involves throwing a Knife forwards, which then alters its trajectory and curves as needed towards a nearby target. This ability is gained in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon in Shooter Mode after collecting a second Knife sub-weapon. The knife's attack power then goes down slightly from the regular attack in exchange for its homing ability, which itself is more powerful than normal in Shooter Mode.
