The Iron Plate (usually called the Iron Cuirass or Iron Plate) is an breastplate made of iron. It is usually a step up from a Bronze Armor, but a step down from the Steel Armor.
In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the Iron Cuirass gives a DEF boost of +4, which is one more than the Bronze Cuirass, but one less than the Steel Cuirass.
In Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, the Iron Plate gives +25 DEF, which is 7 more than the Copper Plate (and 2 more than the Army Jacket) and 6 less than the Steel Plate.
In Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, the Iron Plate gives +15 DEF, which is 6 more than a Copper Plate, but 3 less than a Silver Plate.
In Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, the Iron Plate is said to be made of Steel, so there is no separate Steel Plate in this game. It grants +18 DEF, which is 10 more than the Copper Plate and 10 less than the Silver Plate. It can be purchased at Jacob's shop once Eugen's quest "Poor Preparation is Costly" quest is completed, which requires giving him three Iron Ores.
In Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, it can provide a +26 Fire resistance if it is equipped as the main armor. It can also provide +30 Burn resistance.
