Kanako Miyamoto (宮本佳那子 Miyamoto Kanako?) is a Japanese actress, voice actress and singer. She graduated from the Toho Gakuen College of Arts, Department of Drama, Musical Department. She worked at Toei Academy, Toei Management and Toei Tokyo Studio. She is currently affiliated with Axl One.

She voiced Sumi in the Japanese version of the Castlevania animated series.

Career[]

Kanako Miyamoto entered the Toei Academy Training Center when she was studying the 4th grade of elementary school. Her first appearance was in an educational film about traffic safety. She has appeared in many stages and musicals, such as Anne of Green Gables, where she played the role of Ruby, as well as in the girls musical Tokyo Mets.

She became a member of the choral group "Young Fresh", in which she participated in the songs of the TV anime Pretty Cure (a.k.a. PreCure). Her debut as a solo singer took place with the ending theme of Yes! PreCure 5, "Glittering My True Love!", aired on February 2007. She also provided the later ending theme "Gun Balance de Dance-Dreaming Miracles" in the same production. In episode 40, she made a guest appearance as herself. She also starred as Pinky in the theatrical anime Movie Yes! PreCure 5 Mirror Country Miracle Adventure!

In 2009, Miyamoto started to focus more on her voice acting career, and in 2011, she had her first main role playing Mai Rikkai in My Magic and Family Day. Since 2013, she has played the role of Makoto Kenzaki/Cure Sword in Pounding! PreCure. By that time, she had also started focusing more on her live performances, which started with her appearance in Animate and 2008 (Akasaka Graffiti) on October 2008.

Since April 2010, she has appeared in the children's program Kids Theater!! (renamed to Kids Theater Neo in October of the same year, and Kids Theater Peace in July 2012). On April 2012, she started her first radio program, titled Kanako Miyamoto x Hideyuki Takahashi's Live ♪ Show.

On December 2010, she released her first original mini-album titled Harmony. She released her eponymous first full-length album on February 12, 2014.

On February 7, 2014, she announced a long-term suspension of activities due to poor physical condition. On March 23, 2015, more than a year after suspending her activities, she made an announcement on the official Toei Management website where she stated that she was in the process of recovery and motivated to return working. She resumed her activities on July 13, 2015. In line with this, she transferred from Toei Management to Toei Tokyo Studio, and on May 9, 2016, she became affiliated with Axl One, her current agency.

On November 2015, she resumed her live singing performances and gradually returned to work as a voice actress. It was announced that she would sing the ending theme "Let's La Cookin ☆ Showtime" of the 14th PreCure series, Kirakira PreCure a la Mode, returning to perform a theme song for this series for the first time in nine years. She was in charge of her first opening theme song for HUG! PreCure, aired on February 4, 2018.

Miyamoto provided the opening and ending theme songs for Healing ♥ Pretty Cure, aired in 2020, as well as the theme song for the movie version. She keeps singing multiple insert songs and contributes deeply to the Pretty Cure series.
