Keremet is the boss of the Great Stairway in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin. He is a large, liquid-like, green monster that hides inside a cauldron.
Description[]
Keremet hides inside a cauldron and will only emerge after the latter has been struck at least five times. When he comes out, Keremet will face the side of the attacker who struck his cauldron and attack by releasing little green blobs from his body, or by spewing out a large red orb (which somewhat resembles the Nightmare spell). Only Keremet's skull-like head is vulnerable.
The green blobs launched by Keremet will animate once they touch the ground and move back toward the cauldron. Making contact with them is harmful to the player.
If the red orb is struck in midair, it will split into five smaller skull-like projectiles that will quickly spread downward, likely where the player is standing, and dealing considerable damage.
The cauldron can be pushed along the floor without any penalty (having both Jonathan and Charlotte pushing it at the same time will allow them to push it faster), and properly positioning it can prove vital to a successful fight against this boss. For example, the cauldron can be pushed near to any of the platforms located on both sides of the room, allowing the player to climb them up once Keremet has come out and hit his head more easily.
The player can also just use a Mace, or a similar weapon, stand on the very edge of the cauldron, and spam away. Keremet will only be able to hit the player very few times from there, but most of the time he can be defeated without losing any health.
Attacks/Abilities:
The fight against Keremet is quite simple. First, the player starts by pushing the cauldron near any of the platforms on either side of the room, and then securing Jonathan to the edge of the boiler while Charlotte stands at the top platform. At this point, Jonathan will keep attacking the boiler, thus allowing Keremet to come out of it. As Keremet will only face the attacker of the boiler, he will only spit red orbs in Jonathan's direction, and Charlotte can use this opportunity to release Ice Fang magic to deal damage to Keremet (pay attention to the timing of the Ice Fang release; otherwise, it will hit the red sphere, which will cause it to scatter into several skulls to deal damage to Jonathan, wasting a significant amount of MP). With this cycle, Keremet can be defeated in a short period of time.
Additionally, Keremet has a notably high SP value for that point in the game (50 SP), which allows for quick sub-weapon upgrades, so don't forget to attack Keremet with a sub-weapon you want to upgrade.

Trivia[]
- Keremet shares one thing in common with Aria of Sorrowʼs Man-Eater, and with Symphony of the Nightʼs Olrox and Succubus, by having his HP maximum at 666, the number of the beast, which is normally associated with the Devil.
- Keremet leaves a corpse after being defeated.
- Keremet may be a reference to Roger the Potted Ghost, a boss enemy in the video game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, in that they are both tall, ghost-like bosses who hide inside a large pot which can be pushed around to the player's advantage.
