Kinuyo Yamashita (山下 絹代 Yamashita Kinuyo?), also known as "yamako", is the first composer of the Castlevania series.

In the original Castlevania, her debut work, she shared credits with another composer, Satoe Terashima, under the pseudonym of "James Banana", although they didn't actually collaborate; each composer contributed with her own themes and all in conjunction comprised the entire soundtrack of the game.[1]

She was part of the Konami Kukeiha Club and composed the music for various other games, such as Mega Man X3 (1995) for Capcom and Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Wrath of the Darkhul King (2003) for THQ.
