The Leather Armor (also known as Hide Cuirass, Leather Cuirass, Soft Leather Armor, or Leather Plate) is one of the weakest breastplates found in the Castlevania series and is made of Leather.
In Symphony of the Night (called Hide Cuirass in North America and Leather Breastplate in Japan), it is the weakest armor, giving +2 DEF, which is one more than a Cloth Tunic, but one less than Bronze Armor.
It is also the weakest armor in Circle of the Moon, where it gives a DEF boost of +30. This is less than the Bronze Armor (+50).
In Harmony of Dissonance, it is the weakest of all body protection gear, giving only +4 DEF, which is two less than Rubber Armor.
In Aria of Sorrow, the Leather Plate gives +10 DEF, which is 3 more than a Cloth Tunic, but 8 less than a Copper Plate.
In Dawn of Sorrow, the Leather Armor is again the weakest of the armors, giving +8 DEF, which is four more than the Cloth Tunic, but four less than the Breastplate.
In Curse of Darkness, the Soft Leather Armor is the first type of armor that can be created (combine two Wild Memory) and is a the most basic armor, granting +5 DEF. It is normally upgraded to Hard Leather Armor by adding a Jet Black, increasing its DEF by 3. It can also be upgraded to Hide Armor by adding Sun Tears, which decreases its DEF to +3, but adds a CON boost of +5. It is also one of the ingredients needed to make a Spike Shield (by combining it with a Leather Helmet and adding Bronze and Steel).
In Portrait of Ruin, the Leather Cuirass gives +4 DEF, which is one more than a Tailcoat and 5 less than a Copper Plate.
In Order of Ecclesia, the Leather Cuirass gives +5 DEF, which is 4 more than Casual Clothes, and 3 less than a Copper Plate.
In Grimoire of Souls, it can raise DEF by 5%.
