The Lower Road Lama's Path (ラマの地下道 Lama no Chikadō?, Underground Path of Lama), also called Lama's Passage in the Castlevania Anniversary Collection, is a location in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. It is an alternate path that takes the player from the Aljiba Woods to the Yuba Lake.

Overview[]

The player enters the Lower Road through some underground tunnels, which are filled with Skeletons and Ghostly Eyeballs, and then exits at the base of Yuba Lake (which is a dead-end if they don't possess the Blue Crystal).

The path contains a lower section with water that the player has to jump on moving platforms to get over, and an upper section that goes above those water pits. The safer upper path can be used on the way to Yuba Lake, but it is not accessible on the way back.

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse[]

The Lower Road, along with the Dabi's Path, appears to be the inspiration for the Underground Passage of Dracula's Curse. The Japanese version of that stage also features red blood on the walls, possible blood drips, and spikes hanging from the ceiling, reminiscent of the bloody stalactites seen in this level. The Underground Passage is also similar in that it also is along a path that takes you under a giant lake to a fortification on an island.

Super Castlevania IV[]

The Dungeon of Super Castlevania IV was inspired by the Underground Passage, which was inspired by the Lower Road.
