"Hearing rumors of monsters nearby, he traveled here to further his research. He's a curious man, and won't hesitate to share information."
— In-game description.

Marcel (マルセル Maruseru?) is a supporting character in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. He is one of Wygol's villagers and a distant descendant of the Belmont Clan. He is a reporter visiting town.

History[]

Marcel was a writer for a sports magazine who was visiting the village when he got kidnapped. Later on, he reveals that he was fired for going for paranormal creatures rather than sports. He will give Shanoa a camera to take pictures of monsters around the world. He also hints at having some sort of interest in Laura. He's usually the best source of money, as taking pictures of the creatures he requests is generally easy.

Location[]

Found in the Tymeo Mountains, at the top right entrance/exit. Marcel cannot be rescued during Shanoa's first visit to this stage, however, as at least the Ordinary Rock (found in the Skeleton Cave) is required in order to make it across the gap that gives access to the paths that eventually lead to his room.

Once rescued, Marcel will stay at the bottom left corner of Wygol Village, just outside Aeon's kitchen and to the left of Serge.

Quests[]

  1. "Case of the Vicious Blight"
    • Objective: Take a picture of a Cave Troll. The first Cave Troll that can be found in the game is in the open trees on the right side of the Tymeo Mountains, a couple of rooms left from where Marcel himself is found.
    • Rewards: 6,000G and adds "Frontier" Issue 1 to the shop.
  2. "Case of the Demon Horse"
  3. "Case of the Hideous Snowman"
    • Objective: Take a picture of a Yeti. There is only one Yeti in the entire game, found at the bottom of a vertical room at the center of the Tymeo Mountains, in the area by the green portals.
    • Rewards: 12,000G and adds "Frontier" Issue Final to the shop.

Trivia[]

  • He appears to be aware of Shanoa's power to use glyphs, but he mistakes this as witchcraft, and thus, initially calls her a witch. He then decides to be quiet of her powers in exchange for Shanoa to do his missions.
  • Marcel is given an indirect reference in Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls. When Maria Renard comments on Shanoa's beauty, she expresses doubt about her claim, but admits she did meet with a journalist who asked to feature her in a piece.
