Well, I thought I'd take another stroll around here. It's been a while! Oh the hours I used to pour into this wiki. I probably won't be quite as obsessive as before. We'll see if I ever resume some of my admin duties haha.
Recently finished the dlc for Lords of Shadow 2 (wow, I made that game stretch out a long time). Now just replaying some of the old games while waiting for Bloodstained to come out. Since there's no new Vania game on the horizon, now might be the time to reflect on all those wonderful old games and make sure their pages have content ^^.
I know we have barely interacted with each other because I came in somewhere at the time when you left. In any case, I've re-added your name to the navbar and I hope you stay here for a good while this time.
Awesome, I'm glad there's an active admin here =) Hey, you still need a profile picture ^^. There's probably been some stylistic shifts since I was here, so if I make edits that are the "old way" of doing things that we're trying to get away from, let me know.
Haha there's benefits to not having an avatar. I just joined discord for Second Life chats recently. Kinda feel the need to switching back and forth between a male and female avatar there to match my two SL avatars depending on which one I'm logged in as. It can get confusing.
Ah Jem. My brother used to get teased for having the initials JEM.
Being that Bloodstained is meant to be the spiritual successor to Castlevania, it makes sense that the wikis associate with one another. Wiki contributors of one will consider contributing to the other. The result are, hopefully, a stronger fandom for both series.
Also if Bloodstained does well, it may convince Konami to make new Castlevania games ♥, which is something i'm sure we all want.
Yes for sure, there should definitely be an affiliation between the two wikis. I think the fandoms between the franchises are pretty much identical at this point of the game. Is there anything I need to do? Sounds like Nagumo and Chernabogue are all for it.
A few moments ago I started a poll to see if you'd like Dialogue Tables to appear within articles or in a separate sub-page, and I would also love to hear your opinion. Come visit the main thread HERE and make your voice be heard! XD
My name’s Matt and I’m a community development associate for Wikia. I’m in charge of a periodical feature called “Guided Tours” where I interview experts on a given topic, asking questions about how they got into their area of expertise and how they recommend others do the same. Our next feature is going to be on Metroidvania video games -- and, of course, Castlevania fits the bill!
If you could provide answers, as short or long as you see fit, to the questions below, your responses will be featured in the article. Check out a recent Guided Tours article for an example.
1. Tell me a bit about yourself and your involvement with the the Castlevania Wikia.
2. How did you get into Metroidvanias? Into Castlevania?
3. How would you recommend a beginner get into Metroidvanias? Any particular game that would serve as a good starting point?
4. Anything you wouldn’t recommend?
5. Any additional advice you’d give to someone new to Metroidvanias?
6. What resources on your wiki might be useful to an aspiring Metroidvania fan?
As Jorge mentioned below, I just posted the first part of the Ultimate Vampire Slayer Squad contest right here. If you guys could give it some kind of placement on the mainpage we'd really appreciate it, and please don't hesitate to let me know if you need anything or have any questions!
That's a good idea, I wish I would have implemented it last week >_< Sorry, my notifcations have been buggy recently, otherwise I would have gotten back to you on that point sooner.
In the meantime, it looks like it's time for round two, the part where we pick the five finalists. I'm more than happy to let you guys pick the five if you've got some favorites in mind, but if not, just let me know. I can cc Nagumo as well, if you think I need to.
Also, just wanted to say thanks again for letting us host this contest on the Castlevania Wikia, it's doing super well, and a big part of that is thanks to you guys pitching in!
Anyways, feel free to message me with the selections if you have them, or let me know if you need help sorting through them (250+ is a bunch haha).
Oh, a quick note as well, I'm working on the blog post already, but it needs to go live tomorrow, Feb 11th at 1:00pm PST. I should have most of the text ready to go, but I'll need to grab images for the characters from each team, so the sooner I can get the list from you guys the better. Sorry about the tight deadline on that, but let me know if it's going to be an issue and I'll see what we can do.
With Lords of Shadow 2 coming out soon, we thought it would be cool to work with Konami on doing some special event to drum up excitement, and hopefully editors, on the Castlevania wikia community. Folks have had a good time in the past building Ultimate teams, and we were thinking of doing something similar, asking folks to build a team of vampire hunters from both Castlevania lore and the wider vampire universe (which may bring in new fans from other Wikia communities). I'm also hoping we can tie some giveaway into the process.
Anyway, we were thinking of launching in a couple weeks and I wanted to check in to see if that sounds like something the community would be interested in hosting (we'd probably use a blog). Let me know if you have any input or if you need any other help around the wiki.
Looks like we're ready to launch an Ultimate Slayer team event sometime next week to drum up excitement! Unfortunately due to region releases, I don't think we can attach a giveaway to it. :( However, we can promote the Castlevania Wikia community on our games hub! Also, maybe we can incentivize participants by having our design team create a custom image of the winning group. That might be cool.
Anyway, we'd love to have your input in selecting finalists and promoting the event on the mainpage if that's cool too. I think Pseudobread will probably put it together, but we'll let you know! Thanks ahead of time!
