According to the Bloodlines Electronic Gaming Monthly fax, Michael R. Belmont gave Eric Lecarde the dragon-crested key to the Lecarde family temple, which housed the Alucard Spear, when he was an old man. He told him about Elizabeth Bartley's plot to revive Dracula and wanted him to follow his destiny as a vampire hunter and stop her. Given his advanced age at the time, he was most likely the unnamed descendant of Richter Belmont depicted in the family tree included in that fax, though he could have been descended from Soleil Belmont instead.

Trivia[]

  • Michael is mentioned in the EU manual for Castlevania: Bloodlines as a "Mysterious Old Man". He is not mentioned in the US manual.
  • It is possible that the "R" stands for his possible father's name, Richter.
  • It is possible that Reinhardt Schneider was originally intended to be the son of Michael R. Belmont, as he was originally intended to be a Belmont and Castlevania was originally intended to take about the same time as Bloodlines[1]. Reinhardt's father's name would have then been changed to Michael Schneider after they decided to make Reinhardt a member of an offshoot family instead.
  • The Bloodlines EGM fax may contradict events seen in Castlevania Judgment, which show Eric using the Alucard Spear at a much earlier age than suggested by the fax. This fax suggests that while Eric was indeed an expert spear user at a young age, he didn't use the Alucard Spear until after his encounter with Michael when he was 23 years old. These events could still be reconciled, however.
