- Not to be confused with Mind.
Mind Points, commonly abbreviated as MP and also known as Magic Points, are used in many Castlevania games that feature RPG elements, to limit the usage of magic or other special abilities. They regenerate naturally in most of the games in the series, sometimes being tied to the character's Intelligence stat. In games in which Hearts are not maintained separately, obtaining them is another way to replenish Mind Points.
Game specific information[]
- In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Mind Points limit the amount of magic Alucard and Maria Renard (Saturn version) can use, but not ordinary sub-weapons. They also limit the use of Alucard's weapon-based special attacks. Alucard regenerates a 5% of his total MP bar every 2 seconds. This rate is increased by the Mystic Pendant.
- In Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Mind Points limit the usage of DSS abilities. In the Battle Arena, MP are drained so fast that Nathan Graves isn't able to use DSS abilities without items. The formula is based off his INT stat, (100 INT = 1 MP per second, to 250 INT = 2.5 MP per second). The Venus + Griffin cards give the highest amount of INT in the game.
- In Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Mind Points limit the usage of Juste Belmont's Spell Fusions, but not ordinary sub-weapons.
- In Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Mind Points are used when a Bullet Soul or a Guardian Soul is used. For Julius Belmont, they regulate the use of his sub-weapons. Enemies have their own Mind Points, although their only purpose is the use of Astral Veil soul.
- In Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, they are also used when Soma Cruz (or Alucard) executes a weapon's Special Attack, as well as Julius's sub-weapons, Yoko Belnades's spells, and Alucard's Hellfire and Bat Form. Soma's regeneration rate is affected by Healing Forest (Treant's soul), the Rune Ring and the Chaos Ring. Enemies also have their own Mind Points, that would lead to their death if emptied under the Astral World effect.
- In Castlevania: Lament of Innocence, Mind Points limit the usage of magical Relics Leon Belmont or Pumpkin can use, but not ordinary sub-weapons. They are not regenerated naturally in this game (not even by using Save Rooms); instead, they are gained when attacks are blocked by the Magic Gauntlet at the moment magical energy is released. For Joachim Armster, they limit the usage of special attacks.
- In Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Mind Points are used when the player uses a sub-weapon or spell (depending on the character performing the action). Attacking and flight in Sisters Mode also consumes MP. These points also act as the partner's health meter when they are present on the screen; if they're totally depleted, the partner is forced to depart. Like in the preceding game, Dawn of Sorrow, Mind Points also regulate the special attacks of weapons.
- In Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Mind Points deplete with the use of every Glyph, but will regenerate fast afterward.
- In Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Mind Points deplete when a character uses one of their Hunter Skills. In addition, they are also used by Alucard, Soma and Charlotte Aulin's Personal Skills (but not those of Jonathan Morris or Shanoa).
