Nitesco (Latin for "To Begin Shining"), also known as Nitens (Latin for "Beaming") is the Magic Elemental Glyph and represents the power of the Magic element. A couple variations of this glyph exist, including the base Nitesco (casts Piercing Beam) and Nitens Rubrum ("Red Beam").
Appearances[]
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia[]
The Nitesco Glyph is an Elemental Glyph representing "Magic". It fires a purplish beam of concentrated magical energy that deals both Flame and Light damage that reaches about half the screen's length. When used with another Nitesco glyph in a Glyph Union, the beam becomes twice as wide and long, and deals twice as much damage. When used with any normal Weapon Glyph, it turns into the Glyph Union Venus, where the Nitesco beam is swung overhead like a giant sword. Nitesco isn't compatible with any other glyphs.
Due to its attacking behavior, Nitesco can be considered one of the most versatile and powerful glyphs in the game. The beam is remarkably long, allowing the player to remain at a safe distance from enemies most of the time, it deals several consecutive hits, and most enemies are weak to the two elements it deals, Flame and Light. It can also be cast while moving, so equipping two Nitescos, one on each arm, and alternating attacks, will allow the player to unleash great destructive force while exploring around.
The glyph can be first acquired in Dracula's Castle, absorbed from Nova Skeletons in either the Forsaken Cloister or the Underground Labyrinth (depending on the path taken by the player after defeating Wallman). Furthermore, Nova Skeletons will infinitely keep casting this glyph as long as they're not killed, so the player can absorb as many copies as they want.
The damage output of this glyph can be increased by raising INT, so wearing gear that boost this stat (Royal Crown or Stephanie, Robe Decollete, Magician Ring or Sun Ring during daytime, etc.) will greatly improve its efficiency.
Additionally, Venus, the Glyph Union of Nitesco and any weapon glyph, is one of the most powerful, versatile and low costing Unions in the game (15 Hearts), so it can be repeatedly cast to make short work of bosses.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair[]
The Nitesco glyph returns in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. It can be obtained from a Nova Skeleton.
Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls'[]
A variation of Nitesco Nitens Rubrum can be obtained in Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls. It has the Incinerating Blast II skill attached to it, which is a Fire variation of the Whirlwind blast that summons a red beam from a portal in the sky to come down on enemies in front of or above Shanoa at a slant.
