Onyx is a jewel found in the Castlevania series, oftentimes found in a ring (sometimes called the Onyx Ring), and is associated with the Dark attribute.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[]
The first appearance of Onyx in a Castlevania game was in Symphony of the Night as a salable ring. It could be sold to the Master Librarian for 3,000 Gold, which is more valuable than a Turquoise (1,500 G) and less valuable than Garnet (5,000 G). Onyx is rarely dropped by the Jewel Sword.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia[]
The Onyx in this game is an item that by itself does nothing. It is one of the items needed to complete Laura's "A Heartwarming Accessory" quest. If the player brings her an Onyx and a Diamond, she will make available the Onyx Ring (greater Dark offensive power), Onyx Pins (greater defense against Dark), Diamond Ring, and Diamond Pins at Jacob's shop.
Likely, the first Onyx the player will have access to can be found in Tristis Pass. Shortly after passing the room with the frozen waterfall, and past the room with the Armored Beast, about midway through the large vertical room that takes the player back to the surface, there is a breakable wall that contains a fixed Onyx drop.
