Piercing Beam

The Piercing Beam, also called Skeleton Beam and Nova Blast, is the signature attack of the Nova Skeleton. It is a medium-width beam of magical energy emitted from its body, possessing considerable power, as well as long but limited range.

This ability can be obtained from the Nova Skeleton by several playable characters in several games. It can be obtained by Soma Cruz by capturing a Beam Skeleton's soul in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (called Skeleton Beam) and Harmony of Despair. Shanoa is able to absorb its related glyph (called Nitesco) in Order of Ecclesia and Harmony of Despair. In Portrait of Ruin, Charlotte Aulin has a beam attack (unrelated to the Nova Skeleton) called Piercing Beam that has unlimited range, but she can use the classic Nova Skeleton's beam (also called Piercing Beam) in Harmony of Despair by capturing its attack.

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin[]

Piercing Beam is one of Charlotte Aulin's magic spell skills in Portrait of Ruin. When cast, it fires a concentrated beam of powerful Holy light.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia[]

Main article: Nitesco#Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

The Nitesco glyph can perform the Piercing Beam attack in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. The beam is more purplish than earlier versions on this attack in this game and the orb emanating the energy is less pronounced. The glyph can perform a Glyph Union with another NItesco glyph for an even larger beam, or swung like an overhead energy sword when performing glyph unions with a Weapon Glyph.

Castlevania: Harmony of Despair[]

Soma Cruz, Charlotte Aulin, and Shanoa can all gain this attack from a Nova Skeleton in Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. It appears similar to its purplish appearance in Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
