Not to be confused with Devil Ring.

The Ring of Vlad is a relic in the Castlevania series. It is one of Dracula's worldly possessions and has been in the Count's family for hundreds of years.

The item is later renamed as Satan's Ring (魔王の指輪 Maō no Yubiwa?), functioning as a stat-boosting accessory which greatly increases DEF in addition to other stats at a constant smaller value.

Game specific information[]

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest[]

Found in Laruba Mansion. The Ring is one of the five relics needed in order to gain access to the ruins of the Demon Castle and fight Dracula at the end of the game. Equipping it serves no function.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night[]

The Ring of Vlad is one of the relics needed to enter Shaft's chamber. It gives a boost of INT +10.

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance[]

The Ring of Vlad is one of the six relics needed in order to enter the ceremonial room. It increases LCK (which had been a function of the Eye of Vlad in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night).

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow[]

The Satan's Ring increases DEF by 7, and ATK, STR, CON and INT by 2, being similar in value to the Ancient Belt.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow[]

The Satan's Ring increases DEF by 6, and STR, CON and INT by 3, and is notably sold for 33,333 gold.

Trivia[]

  • On the English localizations, the ring is sometimes mistakenly said to have been worn by Satan. When this is not the case, the ring still keeps the name "Satan's Ring", implying it once belonged to him. On the original Japanese version, both the ring's name and description are actually referring to Dracula, who is the Dark Lord. The confusion stems from the fact that the Japanese word used to refer to the Dark Lord (魔王 Maō?) appears on the ring's name and description, and is the same word understood by the Occident to mean "Satan", which probably escaped the localization team's attention. Another evidence for this is the fact that the ring in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow bears a bat motif, a symbol most commonly associated with Dracula.
    • It could thus be assumed that both the Satan's Ring and the Ring of Vlad are one and the same. Supporting this theory is the fact that both rings have never appeared together in the same game.
