The Shaman Ring (called Sherman Ring in Aria of Sorrow) is a ring accessory in the Castlevania series which causes the player character to gain increased experience along their journey, be it from gaining it via just walking, or by increasing it through killing monsters.
It can be found in Aria of Sorrow (DEF +1), Dawn of Sorrow (DEF +1), and in Portrait of Ruin.
Game specific information[]
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow[]
First appearance of the Shaman Ring in the series (renamed as "Sherman Ring" in the English version of the game). The effect of the ring in this game is unique in that it gives EXP points while walking (dashing with the Black Panther soul is also included), although it is required for Soma to actually be displacing in order to gain the EXP points (e.g.: "walking" against a wall won't give any EXP) (the way this effect works is similar to that from the Healing Mail, although it gives HP instead).
This ring is found in the Dance Hall, in a small room that is uncovered by breaking a piece of ceiling near the exit of this area (after defeating the Big Golem and having just used the Skeleton Blaze soul to slide through a crawlspace). While reaching this secret room is mainly intended through the use of the Giant Bat soul, it can also be accessed earlier by jump kicking the wall candles and candelabra below it to reach the upper room (note that unlike most games, the Jump Kick ability is separately obtained from the Kicker Skeleton soul in the Floating Garden).
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow[]
The ring can be found in a secret room behind a statue in the Cursed Clock Tower. The statue is found near the beginning of the area, in the vertical room inhabited by Medusa Heads that is located after the cutscene with Celia Fortner. To access the room behind it, the last three digits of the current amount of gold the player is currently holding must end in "573". This value is an in-joke Konami uses in many of its games.

Notes[]
- It is unknown if the ring being renamed as "Sherman Ring" in the English version of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow was a translation error of if it was a joke (possibly an inside one) made by the localization team.
- In Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, equipping Shaman Rings on both of Jonathan or Charlotte's accessory slots will increase all EXP gained by around 56.25%, instead of only 50%, indicating the boost is multiplicative.
