A shield barrier that takes the form of a hexagonal star-shaped gear. These are smaller versions of the Shield found in the Gradius series of space-themed shoot 'em up games by Konami. In the Castlevania series, they are used for personal protection, while in the Gradius series they protect the front of the Vic Viper starship.

The first time this kind of shield appeared in a Castlevania game was as the special ability of the Shield Rod in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. By inputting the sequence: ← → PlayStation - Square - 01, Alucard can summon a shield from the Shield Rod in front of him. This shield will stay where it is placed and absorb enemy attacks. It will get smaller over time until it disappears after about ten seconds. Up to four such shields can be placed at a time.

The second time this kind of shield appeared was in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. Juste Belmont can summon two shields using the Holy Book + Bolt Book Spell Fusion ability. These shields hover in front of him and follow him as he moves, growing smaller as they deal or absorb damage, until they disappear. These shields won't degrade until they stay in front of Juste, such that a skilled player can move around and let the shields circle around, dealing additional hits.
