Spell Books are magic tomes in Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance. When combined with sub-weapons, they allow Juste to cast Spell Fusions, which are powerful spells with a variety of effects, at the cost of a determined amount of MP.
Overview[]
Spell Books are secret magic tomes the player can find along their journey. There are a total of five books; some of them are found lying in plain sight, while others are located in hard to reach places or stored in secret rooms.
Each book portrays a certain element, these being Fire, Ice, Thunder, or Wind; with the fifth being a special tome of summoning, which as its name implies, allows the caster to call forth powerful entities from another realm to fight for them.
Each book can be combined with each of the six available sub-weapons in the game (Dagger, Axe, Sacred Fist, Holy Water, Holy Book, or Cross), with each combination resulting in a different spell, for a total of 30 different spells. Some of these are used (or thrown) once per cast, consuming a determined amount of MP each time, while others remain passively aiding the player for a short period of time or until they deplete either their ammunition or hit points.
A similar case happens with the Summoning Tome, which usually calls forth a powerful creature or demon to unleash a devastating onscreen attack (similar to an Item Crash), or may summon a familiar to follow and aid the player during their travels.
