Sub-Weapon/Resurrection

In what was supposed to be her second game, Sonia Belmont was slated to be able to use more traditional sub-weapons in the canceled game Castlevania: Resurrection, rather than relying on her Soul Weapons as she did in Legends. She would have been able to access the Dagger, Axe and Holy Water sub-weapons that she had collected during her first game. Instead of the Cross, she would be able to use a Boomerang, which would have marked that weapon's first appearance in 3D. She also would not have access to the Stopwatch sub-weapon.

• Dagger - Thrown rapidly forward.
• Axe - Thrown in an arc, landing on top of enemies in front of her.
• Holy Water - Thrown in front of her, where the splash forms a circle that erupts flames upward.
• Boomerang - Thrown straight ahead and then comes back.

Each sub-weapon was to have an alternative special attack that consumed more Hearts, like an Item Crush. Whenever she collected a sub-weapon, a large 3D image of it would appear on the screen and then travel into the equipment icon in the upper left of the screen. In the demo, this icon would disappear briefly whenever a Heart was found and then return whenever it was picked up.

Hearts were set to make their 3D debut in this game as well, replacing the crystals found in Legacy of Darkness. Their denominations were somewhat different in this game though. The basic Heart was still worth 1 Heart. A purplish-pink Heart was worth 25 Hearts. An embroidered Heart reminiscent of a Heart Max Up item would fill up the entire Heart meter up to 99 Hearts.

It is not known if Victor Belmont would have used the same set of sub-weapons.
