Maria Renard is able to Summon Four Holy Beasts (also known as the "Four Symbols") in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Her Four Holy Beasts (Suzaku the fire bird, Genbu the turtle, Seiryuu the dragon, and Byakko the white tiger) are summoned, which grant herself or an ally temporary invincibility. During the prelude stage, Final Stage: Bloodlines, she casts the spell if Richter loses all his health during his battle against Dracula. She continues praying during the rest of the battle, which prolongs the effects of the spell. Richter is unable to take damage while this spell is active, until he is able to defeat Dracula.
In the Sega Saturn version of Symphony of the Night, the playable Maria is able to cast the spell on herself by entering the sequence ↑↗→↘↓↙←↖↑(hold) ↓ + FIRE. This spell grants her invincibility for about forty seconds.
In Grimoire of Souls, the player character can summon Maria with an Alter Art, where she will cast this spell. Instead of granting invincibility, it heals the person who summoned her as well as any nearby allies.
