Takahiro Sakurai (櫻井 孝宏 Sakurai Takahiro?) is a Japanese voice actor, narrator, singer and radio personality. He formerly was a member of 81 Produce, but since July 2014, he is affiliated with INTENTION.

He voiced Jonathan Morris in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, Ruki Mukami in the anime Diabolik Lovers, and Hector in the Japanese version of the Castlevania animated series.

Career[]

Sakurai is the eldest of three siblings from a family who runs a rice shop.

He graduated from Okazaki Josai High School. After graduating from the Yoyogi Animation Academy Nagoya School and 81 Acting Institute, he officially made his anime debut in 1996 with Bakuso Brothers Let's & Go!!. After graduating from training school, he became a member of 81 Produce. Even before his official debut, he had already received voice acting jobs such as radio dramas since his training school days, although for a while after his debut there was a period when he could not decide on a job even after auditioning. In 1999, wWhen he was 25 years old, he thought about quitting as a voice actor, but fortunately he got regular roles in two productions shortly after, Digimon Adventure and Sensual Phrase, and in the same year he obtained his first starring role with Gatekeepers, performing his first character song as well.

On April 22, 2011, he won the Famitsu Award 2010 for "Male Character Voice Award".

In 2012, he won the 6th Voice Actor Award "Overseas Fan Award".

In 2013, after a year of discussions with a record company, he announced in his radio program that he would be in charge of singing the character song for Shirokuma Cafe. The newly recorded character song CD would be released for the first time in about 7 years since Memories Off #5 Interrupted Film. On April, he left 81 Produce, the agency he had been working for since his debut, and reported on the radio program Cherry Bell Co., Ltd. that he would be active as a freelancer.

On July 20, 2014, he announced on his official website that he was now affiliated with INTENTION, established by his friend Kenichi Suzumura.

On October 25, 2016, he stepped on the red carpet at the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival with Yuichi Nakamura as Clavis Shepherd as John Paul in Genocidal Organ.

On January 4, 2017, he won the 26th Anime Grand Prix Best Male Voice Actor Award for the second time in Nonko and Nobita's Anime Scramble.

On October 25, 2018, he attended the 31st Tokyo International Film Festival with Mamoru Miyano, who played Haruo, as Metofies in Godzilla: Star Eater.
