Names[]

I was wondering if the Shield Rod combos have individual names in a Japanese guide. Is "Shield Fusion" an official term for this ability? The term was used in the translation guide. Its a better name than Shield Rod Combo anyways, since it takes into account that the Lemuria Sword can do these too.--Reinhart77 01:13, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

I guess the English BradyGAMES guide does calls it "Shield Rod Spells", so I'll try to update the wiki to use that term. It also gives the abilities names, so I'll again update it accordingly. --Reinhart77 01:18, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

I guess I don't really need Japanese names for these, as the BradyGAMES names can be worked with, other than as a curiosity.--Reinhart77 06:19, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

It is written "特殊技, 特殊攻撃, 必殺技" in the Japanese guide. It is a meaning that looks like "Critical Art, Magic Spells". We have not BradyGAMES guide.--Kiyuhito 11:51, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

Harmony of Despair??[]

On another note, someone on GameFAQs said they thought they saw one of Alucard's Shield Rod effects in images for the new levels for Harmony of Despair. I'm not sure what he was image he was talking about, but maybe we will be getting the good ole Shield Rod or Mablung Sword in a DLC?--Reinhart77 01:20, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Shield Rod Spell[]

I will change the title of the article depending on an official guide.--Kiyuhito 06:06, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

"Shield Rod Spell" is the official name for these attacks per the BradyGames guide. I had checked that when I created the shield template page. --Reinhart77 14:14, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. I correct title.--Kiyuhito 14:55, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Cane of Byrna?[]

In "the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past" there is a similar Item named "Cane of byrna" which creates a shield which protects the player and also damages enemies, not only they look similar, they have a similar function to what the rod does, considering IGA said a Link to the past was a big influence for this game, wouldn't the Rod happen to be a homage or based on the cane of byrna?
