Thelma (also translated as Selma) is a character in Castlevania: Moonlight Rhapsody. She is a human alchemist who is trying to create the ultimate monster for her master Death. In the beta version of the game, she shares that same artwork as the Female Villager.

History[]

Thelma was one of two human alchemists who worked under Death and tasked with performing monster experiments. The other was Dean. They became close friends and developed a potion that was capable of enhancing the strength of monsters. After Dean had defected, she continued the research on her own. She developed a way to fuse a human with a monster and came very close to completing an experiment that would result in the ultimate monster. However, before she could finish this, hunters from the Demon Hunter Guild entered Dracula's Castle and the Alchemy Laboratory where she was working at, interrupting her research. She attacked one of them, the hunter Reed, with one of her monsters. Thelma was then pursued by Elvis and his allies in the hopes that she will be able to provide clues about Dracula. She uses a variety of monsters to slow them down. After the ghost of her former research partner Dean helps them, she is ultimately tracked down and confronted. Her old friend tries to reason with her and get her to stop following Dracula like he had, but she does not back down. In a last ditch effort to defeat her pursuers, she fused with a Lycan, but is ultimately defeated. Leah attempts to heal her wounds, but her purifying spell was unable to separate her soul from that of the monster. As Thelma dies, she offers her soul up as a sacrifice to Dracula, which causes a huge magical explosion in the Royal Chapel, where a Dark Priest was conducting a ritual.
