The Treant is an enemy in the Castlevania series. It is an ancient tree animated by a purely malevolent evil. It is a giant walking tree with a face on it and behaves and attacks exactly like other Golem or Great Armor enemies.
Treants are fictional creatures found in the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying games, having been first introduced in the very first edition of the game in 1974, where they were first called Ents, and then Treants in subsequent editions. Their first name was a reference to the Tolkien's eponymous being.
They are portrayed as sentient trees with human characteristics, protectors of forests and antagonists to industrialization and despoiling of nature. They are typically allies of druids and fey, opposing malicious races such as orcs.
The Treant behaves almost exactly as a Golem (actually being just a modified sprite of this enemy), although it doesn't fire anything from its mouth and being a little bit faster.
Gaining dominance of its soul grants the Healing Forest ability, which allows Soma to regenerate MP at a faster rate; a useful passive ability that can become handy both while exploring the castle or even during boss fights.
In Portrait of Ruin, Treants appear in the Forest of Doom. Here, they drop the Club, which is one of the five cards necessary to complete Wind's "The Gambler" quest. They have the same appearance as their Dawn of Sorrow counterparts, only a bit darker.

- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, the Treant is called "Dryade" instead, probably because of an error by the localization team due to the similarity between both monsters.
- While the Treant first appeared in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, the Wooden Golem from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow could probably be considered to be its predecessor.
