Tutorials are special game modes or stages that walk the player through the basics of a game, as well as popup dialogs that appear throughout the game.

Game specific information[]

Castlevania: Circle of the Moon[]

Whenever Nathan Graves obtains a new Magic Item that gives him a new ability, a popup appears telling him how to use it. These magical items usually allow Nathan to explore a section of the castle he hasn't been able to before.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow[]

A short tutorial commences when Soma Cruz, Mina Hakuba and Genya Arikado are attacked by monsters at the entrance to the castle at the Castle Corridor. Upon attacking and defeating one of the enemies, Arikado notices that Soma has gained the Power of Dominance, and Soma learns how to use it.

Castlevania: Lament of Innocence[]

When first arriving at the Castle Entrance, Leon will access a tutorial area before he can continue to the main hub room. Tutorial popups will appear there as needed. Leon learns Guard and Double Jump there. The Svarog Statue will be acquired there for learning how to use Relics. This area is not accessible the normal way in Crazy Mode, although it can be entered backward and the normal tutorial popups won't appear.

Castlevania Puzzle: Encore of the Night[]

The Master Librarian gives the tutorial at the beginning of this game.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia[]

Before setting out for her quest, Barlowe gives Shanoa a tutorial of her abilities. Shanoa will acquire her Confodere Glyph there.

Castlevania Judgment[]

A Tutorial mode is selectable in this game. In it, an experienced Trevor Belmont teaches the inexperienced Simon Belmont the basics of combat in the game in the Abbey Ruins. Three sessions are available, Beginner (learn the game's fundamental controls), Intermediate (learn more combat-oriented techniques), and Advance (learn how to cancel and chain attacks) (see YouTube for the tutorial dialogue).

A Practice Mode is also available in this game, where the player can practice any playable character's moves with any sub-weapon. It takes place in the Throne Room.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow[]

The first stage of this game serves as the basic combat tutorial. Lessons are sprinkled throughout later stages as new skills are needed.

A brief tutorial will also occur when starting to play as Laura in sections of the Reverie DLC.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate[]

The prologue tutorial stage is the only part of the game where Gabriel Belmont is playable. After he defeats the Daemon Lord, the story switches to Simon Belmont. The tutorial continues into the beginning of the Cursed Village stage.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2[]

The prelude of this game, Castle Siege, serves as the basic combat tutorial. Dracula starts out with many powers that he will later lose and have to regain. The main tutorial starts in the Throne Room. There, the player must demonstrate the ability to perform basic movements, including moving, jumping, moving the camera around and using both area and direct attacks, before the story will advance. Once this is done, enemies will burst through the castle gates and Dracula will have to defeat the invaders. This tutorial continues until the paladin Roland de Ronceval is finally defeated. Lessons are sprinkled throughout later stages as new skills are obtained or needed.

A separate tutorial explaining how to play as Alucard occurs when starting a new Revelations DLC game.

Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls[]

A tutorial is played through before the player is able to start normal missions. Alucard starts out in his Genya Arikado form in the real world on his way to the Elgos Building. He encounters monsters along the way that have manifested from the magic contained within the Grimoires stored at that location. The basic combat is explained there. Once he arrives at the Elgos Building, the tutorial continues to teach the systems of the game. Upon entering the first Grimoire, Dracula's Castle, he takes on a weaker form and appears as he did in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Upon fighting and being defeated by Death in the second stage, he realizes he needs to increase his power, which closes out the tutorial.

Upon completing the main tutorial, a Sabre is acquired. 1,500 Gems are also given as a reward for the Mission "Complete the Tutorial". Simon Belmont also becomes playable and the following features are made available: Special Missions, Music, Shop, Compendium, Compendium: Memories, Missions, and Quests: "Simple Search".
